From Nov 1, Roblox says it is merchant of record for most platform purchases; parents must accept for minors
Roblox's Terms of Use now carry "Effective Date: November 1, 2026." A Roblox Support article and an Oct 1 Developer Forum post say the update simplifies wording, and clarifies that "Roblox acts as the principal distributor and merchant of record for purchases made through Roblox," so "when you access or purchase any content on the Roblox Platform, you are obtaining the content from Roblox" and "Users and Creators do not enter into a direct transaction with each other for those purchases," with related clarifications on Robux, payments, tax, and Creator payment. EEA users get a consumer right of withdrawal. The User Terms state that for U.S. and Canadian residents (except Quebec), disputes go through mandatory informal dispute resolution and then binding individual arbitration with a class action waiver; minors need a parent or legal guardian to accept the updated terms to keep using Roblox. The published terms also add a dedicated AI Features section: Outputs may be wrong, and creators' license to Roblox includes use "in connection with developing, improving, or training any AI or machine learning models" (language that already appeared in an earlier draft capture). Niche coverage: an Oct 8 blog post focused on a viral VPN-ban rumor; Roblox's own DevForum and Support pages are the primary sources. No major news outlet found covering the merchant-of-record change.
