1Password: 1Password's business terms add paid Professional Services and drop the right to cancel if setup fails
1Password's business subscription terms now cover paid setup and training services. A clause letting customers terminate if 1Password couldn't finish setting up the service was removed.
The wording
What changed
1Password updated its Subscription Terms of Service, which apply to Teams and Business customers. The change log entry reads: "Added language about our Professional Services launch."
Change 1: paid Professional Services. New definitions cover "implementation, configuration, onboarding, training, and related professional services, excluding web-based support and self-guided onboarding resources," sold as standard "Service Packages" or as "Custom Services" under a Statement of Work. New section 2.6 says they "are not included in the subscription" and "Customer must maintain an active subscription to the Services in order to receive Professional Services." Section 9.1 adds that "purchases of Professional Services do not automatically renew."
Change 2: included support is described as self-serve. Section 2.2 used to say "1Password will provide standard support services." It now says 1Password "makes web-based support resources and self-guided onboarding materials available through its support portal," and that these "do not constitute Professional Services."
Change 3: the setup-failure exit is gone. Section 9.2 used to say that if a customer was unhappy with "1Password's implementation services or setup of the Services," 1Password would "use commercially reasonable efforts to correct" it, and if it couldn't complete setup as agreed, "Customer may terminate this Agreement upon written notice to 1Password." That whole passage was removed. Termination for an uncured material breach (30 days' notice) or insolvency remains.
Other changes: the order of precedence was rewritten so the Professional Services Terms govern those services, and the referenced "Data Protection Agreement" is now called the "Data Processing Agreement." The published text still contains placeholders: the Professional Services Addendum is "available at [PSA URL]" and the Service Package Catalog is "accessible at [LINK]."
Who it affects
Businesses on 1Password Teams or Business plans, especially ones buying onboarding or setup help. Personal and Family users aren't covered by these terms.
